Profit is what remains after every cost
3D Price applies a markup to job cost, then adjusts the selling price for platform fees. Estimated profit is selling revenue excluding tax, minus job costs and platform fees. Minimum orders and rush charges are included in that profit.
Markup and profit margin use different denominators
Markup is measured against cost; profit margin is measured against selling revenue. A job costing EUR 8.56 with a 50% markup sells for EUR 12.84 before tax and fees. Its EUR 4.28 profit is a 33.33% margin. A 50% margin without fees would require EUR 17.12. With a 10% platform fee and 50% markup, 3D Price divides EUR 12.84 by 0.90: EUR 14.27 selling price, EUR 1.43 fee and EUR 4.28 profit.
Watch the effective hourly rate
A job can show a positive margin but still waste your time. The effective hourly rate helps you spot low-value custom work before you accept it.
Compare single orders and batches
Batch pricing can spread setup time across multiple parts. Use the batch table to compare total revenue, unit price and margin for common quantities.
